Watermelon cocktails are light, fruity, and full of summer flavor. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool or hosting friends, these drinks are simple to make and incredibly refreshing. Below is a classic watermelon cocktail recipe with optional twists. This recipe makes 2 servings.

Classic Watermelon Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and deseeded

  • ½ cup vodka (or white rum/tequila)

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1–2 teaspoons simple syrup or honey (optional)

  • A few mint leaves

  • Ice cubes

  • Sparkling water or soda (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Blend watermelon cubes in a blender until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer it pulp-free.

  2. In a shaker or mixing glass, combine the watermelon juice, vodka, lime juice, simple syrup, and a few mint leaves.

  3. Shake well (or stir if no shaker), and pour into ice-filled glasses.

  4. Top with sparkling water or soda for a fizzy twist, if desired.

  5. Garnish with mint, lime wedges, or a small slice of watermelon.

Optional Variations

  • Watermelon Mojito: Use white rum and add more fresh mint and soda water.

  • Spicy Watermelon Margarita: Use tequila, add a splash of orange liqueur, and a slice of jalapeño.

  • Frozen Version: Use frozen watermelon cubes and blend all ingredients to make a slushy cocktail.

Serving

Serve immediately while cold and fresh. Great for garden parties, BBQs, or lazy afternoons.

Storing

Make the watermelon juice in advance and refrigerate for up to 1 day. Mix with alcohol just before serving for best flavor.
