The Chocolate-Hazelnut Panini is a dessert twist on the classic Italian sandwich. Crispy, buttery bread encloses a warm, melted chocolate-hazelnut spread and sliced fruit, creating a simple but indulgent treat. Whether served for breakfast, brunch, or a late-night snack, this panini brings together rich flavors and a gooey texture that feels like a café favorite made right at home.

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

4 slices of brioche or challah bread

4 tablespoons chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)

1 small banana, thinly sliced (optional)

1 tablespoon butter, softened

Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Fresh strawberries, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Spread chocolate-hazelnut spread evenly over two slices of bread.

  2. If using banana slices, layer them on top of the spread.

  3. Place the remaining slices of bread on top to form sandwiches.

  4. Lightly butter the outer sides of each sandwich.

  5. Heat a panini press or a skillet over medium heat.

  6. Place the sandwiches on the hot surface and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the chocolate is melted.

  7. Remove and let cool slightly before slicing in half.

  8. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with fresh strawberries or whipped cream.

Tips:

Use thick-sliced bread to prevent sogginess.

Try adding a sprinkle of sea salt or chopped toasted hazelnuts inside the sandwich for extra flavor and crunch.

If you don’t have a panini press, use a heavy skillet and press down gently with another pan for the same effect.

Substitute chocolate-hazelnut spread with dark chocolate and almond butter for a richer variation.

Serve immediately while warm, as the filling will harden once it cools.
