Pulled BBQ Chicken Sliders are small sandwiches packed with slow-cooked, shredded chicken coated in tangy barbecue sauce, all tucked inside soft slider buns. They’re perfect for gatherings, game nights, or easy family dinners. This recipe makes about 8 sliders and serves 3 to 4 people.
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
500g boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
½ cup water or chicken broth
For the BBQ Sauce (or use store-bought):
½ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon mustard
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of chili flakes (optional)
For Assembly:
8 slider buns or small dinner rolls
Coleslaw (optional but recommended)
Butter (for toasting buns, optional)
Instructions
1. Cook the Chicken
Place chicken in a pot or slow cooker. Season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add water or broth. Cook on low heat (covered) for about 25–30 minutes on the stovetop or 3–4 hours in a slow cooker until the chicken is fork-tender.
2. Shred the Chicken
Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Return it to the pot.
3. Add the BBQ Sauce
In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, mustard, and pepper. Pour over the shredded chicken. Let it simmer together for 5–10 minutes until thick and saucy.
4. Prepare the Buns
Slice the slider buns and toast them lightly with a little butter in a pan if desired.
5. Assemble the Sliders
Spoon the warm BBQ chicken onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw for crunch and creaminess if using. Add the top bun.
Tips for Extra Flavor
Add a slice of pickle or jalapeño for heat
Mix a little hot sauce into the BBQ sauce for spice
Use toasted brioche buns for a buttery, rich bite
Pulled BBQ Chicken Sliders are juicy, flavorful, and easy to make in batches.
