2. Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • Optional garnish: chopped chives or parsley

3. Instructions

Step 1: Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a 10-inch oven-safe skillet (cast iron works best) in the oven to heat while you prepare the batter.

Step 2: Make the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, flour, salt, and pepper until smooth and slightly frothy.

Step 3: Prepare the Skillet
Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Add butter and swirl until melted and hot. Pour the batter into the skillet.

Step 4: Add Cheese and Bacon
Sprinkle shredded cheddar and chopped bacon evenly over the batter.

Step 5: Bake
Return the skillet to the oven and bake for 18–20 minutes, until the Dutch Baby is puffed and golden brown. Do not open the oven during baking, as it may collapse.

Step 6: Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chives or parsley. Slice and serve warm.
